“Stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive” -Bee Gees

It is almost impossible to talk about Myspace without mentioning Facebook. Once upon a time, Myspace was one of the most popular social networking websites in the world. However, with the arrival of Facebook, the number of MySpace users dwindled and many ‘loyal’ followers flocked to Marc Zuckerberg’s Facebook.

While the old version on Myspace appealed to a general audience, the new revamped one is geared towards a more specific group of users: its target audience is now various types of artists and creative individuals. Myspace is dedicated to music and video sharing and can be compared to websites such as Spotify and Pandora. Perhaps the owners of Myspace realized that they could no longer compete against the social networking giant that is Facebook. Instead, they embraced change: first-time users can now more easily sign-up for a Myspace account through Facebook or Twitter. Myspace has the largest online music library in the world.

Great strides have been made over the past couple of years to improve Myspace. However, the website remains behind the times in terms of accessibility since the site is only available in English. Therefore, potential users who do not understand the language may have a hard time navigating it.

Myspace has a lot of new features, but others could be improved. It is up to you to explore Myspace and make your own opinion about the website.
