What’s to ‘Like’ about Facebook?

Facebook is one of the best social media and social networking websites that exists today for two main reasons: It has a vast network of users and many functions. Facebook caters to a wide range of interests and needs for both professional and personal use while other social networking sites such as LinkedIn and MySpace only target specific audiences. With over one billion users worldwide, it is one of the most comprehensive and popular sites to date.  Its huge user base makes it even easier to reach more people to promote a business or service, or get in touch with friends and family.

While Facebook has many great features, there are also some problems associated with the site. Over the years, advertisements have become more and more prominent on news feeds. A news feed is a page that appears after members have logged into their account and allows them to see what their friends have liked, shared, and posted.  As a result, users are being bombarded with ads that can become intrusive and interfere with the browsing experience. In addition, there have been recent issues regarding the news articles that appear on Facebook. It turns out that news stories that appear to be real, but that are actually fake, have been published on the website and many users have unfortunately been deceived by the creators of these publications.

Therefore, anyone considering using Facebook should weigh the benefits and disadvantages and those who already have an account should avoid relying on Facebook as their only source of news.
